X Factor: Top 10 Thanksgiving Performance

Wow, I am blown away by this episode. This is by far the best one yet. Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, the acts must sing a song for someone; giving thanks to them. We start with Tate, who gives thanks to his wife.

Tate was okay, I wouldn't call it his best performance. I definitely don't think he should be ranked first, but he probably will be anyway. I'm not sure I like that they show us the rankings, it's basically just telling us who is going to win because people don't like to change their votes. I don't either, I've voted for Diamond this whole time. Anyways, Tate's performance was so-so.

Emblem 3 wasn't great either. It wasn't memorable, I don't even remember who they gave thanks to. I do remember them telling us about how two of them are brothers and the other one is basically an adopted brother who didn't have a family to stay with. Their performance just wasn't as emotional as the judges wanted.

Now Diamond always blows me away, but tonight was a whole different level. She gave thanks to her mom because she doesn't have a dad and her mom was basically a mom and dad to her. She sang "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion, which was a perfect song choice (good job Britney!) She sang with so much feeling and passion, and hit those big notes and high notes so well, it was amazing. I don't usually cry but I couldn't help it. I cried. She even got a standing ovation from every judge but Simon, which honestly pisses me off because she couldn't possibly have done anything better. She also made Demi cry. Which made me cry even more, and that is Demi's 5th time.

Paige dedicated hers to a woman who basically adopted her because (like the guy from Emblem 3) she had no family. It is all very touching as they show the backstage clips and her 3 year old daughter (I think her name is Jade) who is absolutely adorable. But then I notice something that I probably should've noticed a long time ago; Paige has a giant tattoo of her daughter's name and birth date on her chest. That's kind of weird, but I guess it's better than Vino's tattoo across his head. Paige did alright. It wasn't great, and I won't be surprised if she goes home. I will miss her though, she seems really sweet and her daughter is adorable.

Vino gave thanks to the troops, which he wanted to join but couldn't because of his tattoos. I know Vino used to sing for them which is really kind, and probably gives him bonus votes. He sang "God Bless the USA," and it was amazing. He sang it perfectly, and I think he is the most improved out of any of the contestants. He got a standing ovation (although I'm pretty sure it was for the troops), but either way he deserves it.

Arin chose his brother, and I don't have much to say about this one because it was my least favorite of the night. It was just bleh. I don't think he'll make it to the top 8.

Cece's was, along with Diamond's, the most memorable performance. She gave thanks to her sister, who died of cerebral palsy at the age of 7. I started crying before the performance because the backstage video was so heartbreaking. Cece explained that her sister Kelsey's favorite color was purple, so each year they tie a purple ribbon to the Christmas tree. Her parents are also interviewed and crying, which makes me cry even more. Then Cece starts singing "You are the Wind Beneath My Wings" by Whitney Houston, which is not an easy song to sing, especially after watching that heartbreaking video. She starts out shaky, but once she gets to the high notes she pulls herself together and aces them, and it sounds amazing. Plus she looks amazing, and she sings with so much feeling. She chokes at the end, not able to finish the last few words. She does finally get positive remarks from the judges, but I think everyone is in tears by now (her mom is hysterically crying, and so was Diamond's mom when she was performing) and Cece herself can't control her emotions. I'm crying pretty hard too, but somehow Demi manages to pull herself together and hold back those tears by not looking at Cece. Anyways, good job Cece, that was a beautiful performance.

Beatrice gave thanks to her adopted sisters, who both surprised her by showing up for the first time. I must commend Britney for her song choices this week, they were all good! She must've gotten help from someone though, because I can't imagine it's possible to go from picking such terrible songs to great songs in 2 weeks. Beatrice sang "Chasing Cars" by Train, and it was probably her best performance, aside from once again the terrible outfit. It still wasn't comparable to Diamond though.

Fifth Harmony (I like this new name!) gave thanks to God, only because they couldn't give thanks to five different people. We learn that Dinah lives in a house with 20 people, which must be awful. They sang "I'll Stand By You" and it was really good. I think the best singers in this group are Dinah and Lauren, but Camila has something special with her voice. I don't know how you get a voice like that, but it's definitely different.

Carly Rose gave thanks to her older brother who is in college but came back for this performance. He seems like a great big brother and I'm jealous. She sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and it was, as usual, amazing. She hit two huge notes at the end, which got her a standing ovation from all 4 judges. I have to say Diamond's performance was my favorite, but Simon must like Carly better because he stood in  hers and not Diamond's.

Wow! What a night, the first time any act made me cry (in fact, 2 acts!) and I'm excited for the results tomorrow.
